Amish and Amish Mennonite Genealogies - Hugh F. Gingerich and Rachel W. Kreider

Amish and Amish Mennonite Genealogies

Hugh F. Gingerich and Rachel W. Kreider

  • 9000

This encyclopedia for Amish genealogists is certainly the most definitive, comprehensive, and scholarly work on Amish genealogy that has ever been attempted. It is easy to understand why it required years of meticulous record-keeping to cover so many families (144 different surnames up to 1850). Covers all known Amish in the first settlements in America and shows their lineage for several generations. (955pp. index. hardcover. Pequea Bruderschaft Library, revised edition 2007.)

A most comprehensive reference source!

Moving, I've hardly had time yet, but I can see that it is a treasure-trove of well-researched information. After gleaning my family details will make available to others by donating to Bixel/Basinger Museum, a 175 yr.old example of Swiss 'bank barn,' moved to Riley Creek at location of 1835 original Swiss Putnam settlement in NW Ohio. Scholarly Book

This book has quite the wonderful information inside. It is basically a HUGE reference book. Just like the kind one would find at a large public library. Is in very good shape, and arrived exactly in the time frame indicated. I highly recommend it to others
